A TALE OF TWO CITIES
"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us".
A Tale of Two Cities is a novel written by Charles Dickens, and as the name of the book indicates the story is in the context of two cities, in particular London and Paris (1775).
The first part of the book talks about Jarvis Lorry a British lawyer of the Tellson Bank, search to Lucie Manette for tell her that her father the doctor Manette is live. And that they have to go for him to France.
One time they find doctor Manette in the tavern of Ernest Defarge, they discover doctor Manette has mental problems, and he cannot remember nothing. However, after talking a little with his daughter he begins to remember who he is and they return to England.
On second part of the book we find that Lucie Manette has a lot of suitors, some of them Charles Darnay, Sydney Carton and Stryver.
Darnay and Lucie get married and had a girl.
Is
necessary to do mentioned that Charles Darnay went to England after his uncle
was murdered because killed a young. For that Charles gave up to his last name
and amigrated to England.
In the last part of the book, a letter arrives to Darney from a former employee asking for help because in France will kill him if he didn´t testify against him. So, for that not happen Darney returns to France without telling anyone.
The day that Charles Darnay was to be executed, Sydney Carton enters Charles‘ cell, drug to him and changes clothes, Carton had a great resemblance to Charles and nobody identifies them.
Sydney Carton loves Lucie Manette and that's why he sacrificed himself so that she would be happy with her husband and daughter.
